Jane is a local senior college student who both buys and sells on Facebook Marketplace, but the major purpose is seeking for desired stuffs in most reasonable prices, only when there is something she no longer needs would she goes selling. Most of the time, she uses Marketplace in college groups because it is easier to get things she need and sell unwanted stuff quickly, and at a nearer place. When she looks for second-hand stuff online, she cares about the product price and seller’s reputation most. She is basically fine with the current user interface of Facebook Marketplace, but other platforms like Amazon, eBay and Craigslist can also satisfy her needs. She hopes that the trading efficiency of Facebook Marketplace could be better and the search function could be optimized since it is really bad to use.

Kate is a UI / UX designer working in San Jose, California. As a designer, she has very high standards on the simplicity and elegance of the websites. She is a frequent user of Facebook Marketplace, yet she still holds the belief that the UI / UX design is still far from satisfying. The arrangement of the interface is causing either troubles or extra procedures for her when using, and the way Facebook Marketplace pumping notifications is full of non-related information and most of them shall never be pumped. She wants the design of the UI to be more lucid and elegant, the operation to be more simplified, and the notification system modified to be less annoying and more helpful.

Edward is a project manager of web programming working in Boston, MA. He is not very patient and would not put much effort in buying things, and the fluence of overall work flow plays a critical role in his user experience. He has been driven mad by the way some websites organize the introduction of the goods being sold, as many introduction pages are just mixing up everything together, giving an extremely long paragraph of introduction leaving the potential buyers to read word by word, line after line, which is a major stumbling block for him. He is also annoyed by the push-ups of some websites, as suggestions from those websites are either not his aim or actually sort of things he just purchased. He wishes that there would be a online shopping platform with a better reguation and management of information posted and pushed to the users.

Roger is a mechanic living in Rochester, NY where he was born and raised. When using a computer, his normal routine is to checkup with his family using Facebook and then to check his email, the news, and weather. Occasionally, he does purchase items online but only off of large websites like eBay or Amazon that allow quick, easy purchases. Jennifer is a stay-at-home-mom in Morgantown, WV. She works at home after giving birth. Every month she shops at the nearby thrift store for her family. She usually buys high-quality second hand clothes for her husband and her three children. She thinks if she got the wrong size and color while buying clothes online, it would take lots of time to return them. Nothing could get the clothes faster than buying them in the physical shop. What's more, she loves the thrill while hunting for nice stuff in person, so she prefers shopping in-store than shopping online.
